Bill and his wife Barbara have seven children. All of his five sons are members of the Knights of Columbus. The three oldest, pictured here with Bill (Bill IV, Kevin, and Tim) made their Fourth Degree in 1993.

Chris is a 2000 graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, his mother's Alma Mater. Brian is a 2002 graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, Bill's Alma Mater.

As a field agent, Bill offers the following services and financial products to the knights and families of the knights he serves:

SERVICES

  • Introduction and orientation to the Knights of Columbus, with a PowerPoint presentation on the historical origins of the Knights of Columbus, selected fraternal and charitable works and, explanation of benefits.
  • Family financial reviews, review of family financial objectives, and a computerized assessment of life insurance needs.
  • Assistance with retirement planning, education planning (including explanation of Knights of Columbus loan and scholarship benefits), and estate planning (including an explanation of how DuaLife and whole life with a beneficiary's guaranteed purchase option works).
  • Seminars on Planned Giving in cooperation with the Office of Planned Giving, Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
  • Assistance when a knight or a member of a knight's family dies.

  • Knights of Columbus whole life insurance, term insurance (including 5, 10 and 15 year level term and the Discoverer (a cost effective blend of whole life and term insurance).

Prior Experience Related to Insurance

Before he became a field agent with the Knights of Columbus, Bill served for 28 years in the Executive and Legislative branches of the Federal Government. During his years of federal service, Bill had three assignments related to insurance:

  • Senior Economist, Automobile Insurance & Compensation Study, US Department of Transportation.
  • Research Director, Secretary's Commission on Medical Malpractice, Department of Health, Education and Welfare (now HHS).
  • Director, International Training Program, National Center for Health Statistics which is the government agency that develops the mortality tables on which life insurance rates are based.

Bill retired from the U. S. Department of State in January, 1988. At the time of his retirement, he had spent twelve years as Coordinator for Biomedical Research and Health Affairs in the State Department's science bureau.

Special assignments on that job included:

  • Senior Staff Advisor, Presidential Commission on the Human Immunodeficiency Virus Epidemic.
  • Senior Staff Officer, Commission on Life Sciences, National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences.
  • Vice Chairman and Executive Secretary, Working Group on Biotechnology Transfer, OSTP, the White House.

Between January, 1988 and August, 1992 Bill served as a consultant to several organizations. The two most interesting assignments were:

  • U. S. Congress, Office of Technology Assessment: Advisory committee for the study, Biotechnology in a Global Economy: Options for the U.S. Wrote a report for the study on the U.S. involvement in the international regulation of biotechnology.
  • New York Medical College (Archdiocese of New York) assisted the Chancellor, Monsignor Cassidy, in the conceptualization and implementation of the Vatican's 1989 Conference on AIDS, "Vivre, Pourquoi? le SIDA". Also, prepared a briefing book for Cardinal O'Connor's meeting with President Castro in Havana, 1988.

Bill graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgetown University in 1960. He also served as Senior Teaching Fellow in the Graduate Department of Economics in 1963-64.
